I prefer to piece my gaming expereince together, but I would stipulate that you should not buy the "core" model. It is completely upgradable and could be a premium model if you wanted to by a seperate harddrive, etc. Any difference between Xbox and PC games? Sure. I hope you are used to game controllers. That is probably the biggest difference. THere are a couple of nice things about console gaming, one is the liezure play that you get from your sofa and 30" HDtv. Another is not having to upgrade your machine every 6 months with the latest GPU. I'm sure you've herad all this before from other gamers. But console gaming is more simplistic -- not that PC gaming isn't fun, but just keeping up is tedious and costly. With the console, you buy it once, not upgrading necessary, you pay about the same for PC games, if you want to play a game online, for Xboxlive, it is $4.17 a month, and you have a well-established community which allows for demo downloads among other goodies. THat is not to say I, or we, for that matter, have sworn off PC gaming, but we are more aligned to console gaming these days and have not regretted much from our decision.
