i would agree with adel zaytoun of his “shoot” theory cause by cortanas tone of voice, as if she is “commanding” or remote piloting the mac guns, or telling the admiral on cairo station to “shoot” any incoming enemy ships
in one of erics books says she “develops tricks of her own”. she might have “developed” new tricks to hack into graveminds network to broadcast the signal
or maybe because in the end of GoO endless summer used the slipspace com probe to relay the signal to pluto
and cortana “knew” dr halsey would tell endless summer to do that and used this chance to relay any signals or commands back to earth
and also has anyone noticed that chief is not surprised by cortanas sudden appearance in the trailer, maybe cause she learned how to teleport herself onto the probe and arrived on earth and mc has already picked her up, and she has just remembered to to tell him about what she has heard from gravemind, summarizing it in a poetic way

If you read the books, Dr Hasley who helped make the spartan project, asked cortana “would you be willing to let him die to complete the mission” Or something close to the effect of that. Personally I think Cortana has her own agenda and that MC will get screwed over. I am also wondering if bungie will include any of the other spartans such as Kelly, Not to mention something about the Spartan III Project. Any thoughts

sorry but all you guys should have relized that at the end of halo 2 cortana is at the hands of the gravemind and two seconds before the movie ends she says :’shoot’ this means that she is communicating with the cairo station mac gun
beacuse before the credits, it shows you tha the cairo station hasn,t been desroyed

heyyy i read somewhere that the program or computer entity whatever you wish to call her, cortana, has a time period where she works well and eventually her program seeks to gain too much information and kind of breaks herself down? so maybe if not for the gravemind her natural course of life is bringing her to the end of her usefullness. im not sure if this is ultimatly important but it hasnt been said so i figured id mention it, and so far the cortana letters have only been mentioned a few times but from what i can tell they have provided the largest base for mose of the theories that were originaly presented for halo and were originaly made to begin interest in the story of halo so maybe they are one of the better primary sources? have fun speculating

Kurt is dead. Remember, at the end of GoO, he stayed behind to set off the bomb to stop the Covanent forces from getting into the slipspace bubble. He sacrificed himself so that the others might live to find the Forerunner technology to win the war. Mirroring the spartans of greece’s sacrifice at Thermopylae against an innumerable force so that the others could have time to run to safety.
As to James’ survival, I highly doubt it. Remember, he was lost during the attack on Reach. It wasn’t like Kurt’s orchestrated “death” by ONI. Kurt’s situation was different; he was “lost” on a routine mission. It was an accident. James was lost during a full fledged Covanent bombardment. There was no time for ONI to arrange an escape for him. But you never know…
And the GoO shield world concept is that there is a gate into which people can go to a world in Slipspace. A world in slipspace cannot be struck by the Covanent weapons so long as the covanent don’t go inside the gate. A world was then constructed around that gate so that it could be protected and kept secret as a last refuge.
