AgustaWestland EH101 Helicopter

Flight Notes—how to fly the AgustaWestland EH101 Helicopter

This versatile medium-lift helicopter is used for both civilian and military missions in several countries throughout the world. Built by a joint venture between Agusta of Italy and Westland Aircraft in the UK, the EH101 serves as a weapons platform, passenger carrier, air ambulance, search and rescue vehicle, and cargo hauler. It performs military, police, rescue, or maritime patrol operations in the UK, the U.S., Canada, Denmark, Italy, Japan, and Portugal.

The EH101's three turboshaft engines, rugged construction, and redundant systems give it the power to lift heavy loads and the reliability to perform in harsh conditions. Beginning in 2009, a squadron of EH101s (in a special American-built model called the US101), will also serve as "Marine One," the official helicopter of the President of the United States.
